The Wattyl Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge is New Zealand’s premier cycling event. Set in the picturesque Central North Island, the event offers riders the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of individual and team challenges based around a 160 km circumnavigation of Lake Taupo. Riders can choose solo, endurance or relay challenges and the event has recently added a range of mountain bike challenges to complement the road events. While the event is largely non competitive and caters for every level of rider it does offer three race options for elite cyclists.
The event regularly attracts in excess of ten thousand riders and in 2006 was admitted to the prestigious UCI Golden Bike Series, thus gaining recognition as being one of the world’s top nine rides.
The Wattyl Cycle Challenge is organised by the Taupo Moana Rotary Club and any proceeds from the event are returned to the local community.
We will be there at the Taupo Sports and Lifestyle expo.

Hotshots Jeremy Yates and Gordon McCauley have been seen cruising the expo prior to today's shootout around the lake. Both are gunning for the $5000 cash first prize which has attracted record numbers for the pro race and similarly high turnout for the solo and relay 160km challenges. Velo-city made a great impression with the nearly 10,000 people filing through the exhibition hall with many commenting about the great graphics - especially in our men's "profile" shirt, although the "timetrial" image eventually proved the winner as all stocks were snapped up. The forecast for today's race is clear weather with nlight breezes - just what the anxious hordes want to hear ahead of a few thousand revolutions of pedalling! While we won't be out on the course ourselves today, Velo-city wishes all the entrants in the Wattyl Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge a safe and enjoyable journey and looks forward to seeing our shirts prominent in the crowd when the results are announced later this evening.

RIDE Cycling Review: Australia – velo city features in a full page advertisement in RIDE Cycling Review and also in the Paraphernalia section
What Ride said;
"VELO CITY CASUAL CLOTHING
Velo City is new on the casual clothing scene but they've clearly thought things through. The men's shirts use a bold stencil effect with a minimal use of clour and the women's shirts have a more intricate cut than most cycling apparel which should be appreciated"
